It may feel like a long time ago, however, before Christmas we held our AGM at Community House, in Harrogate.
We had a full house, welcoming representatives from Open Country’s members, volunteers, trustees and staff, with the chance to reflect on successes and challenges of the past year.
Chief Officer David Shaftoe reported huge growth in income and service delivery – a remarkable achievement delivering around 10,000 activity days, working with over 400 people with disabilities.
David highlighted our 10th Good Access Scheme Award and popular conference; our continuing work with Nidderdale National Landscape; our Blue Space campaign; Countryside Advice Service, and the expansion of our services for people with disabilities.
We welcomed two new trustees, Chris Burt and Jane Green, and re-elected Rick Firth, Tracey Jackson and Jonty Warneken.
Congratulating Open Country on its work over the past year, Chair of Trustees Richard Firth gave an update of future objectives, including expanding our range of partners to build new networks, continued investment in our Harrogate and Wakefield centres, and the progress we are making in opening a new hub in Teesside in 2025.
Watch this space to see what we can all achieve together this year!
