For the fourth year running, digital agency Engage is exercising its way to raising money for Open Country! The Engage ‘Elympics’ challenges its team to track and log their exercise activities, converting their hard earned miles into cash for local charities.
Engage has already raised over £5,700 this year and over £25,000 in total for its nominated charities. The staff members taking part have logged more than 3,300 individual activities and clocked up an incredible 12,500 miles since March 2019.
To find out more about our work, a team from Engage joined Chris and the members of our Friday conservation Group at Pannal Scout Hut to help build bird, bat and owl boxes to install in various churchyards in North and West Yorkshire.
Dave Wrightson, co-founder of Engage, is delighted to be raising money for Open Country for the fourth year running. He said: “Although working in digital is undeniably a fantastic way to spend your week, it’s certainly not the most active with people regularly spending over six hours a day sat at their desks. We wanted to encourage an increased level of activity in everyone’s lives but in a more creative and rewarding way. We convert our team’s hard earned miles into money and donate it to a number of small, worthy local causes like Open Country where we know the money would make a notable difference.
“It’s been great to join the Conservation group to see how the charity works and where our money will be spent. Not only is Open Country making a difference to its disabled members’ lives, its work also has a hugely positive impact on the local environment and nature habitats.”
Chris said: “The team from Engage worked really hard and were great fun to have on board. Our members were able to show them how we build new homes for birds, bats and owls which will be placed in churchyards across North and West Yorkshire to encourage more wildlife. As funding becomes ever tighter we are increasingly reliant on the support of local businesses and the community, so we’re incredibly grateful for Engage’s fantastic fundraising efforts.”
